How time flies!

Just two months ago (March 11), we have prepared a baby shower for our friend Leslie. And yesterday, baby Lara Denise was finally baptized. :)

I prepared this pink and white 2-tier cake (top layer was 7-inch round + 8-inch square as the 2nd tier).

For the cake topper, the original plan was to make a baby pram :) Since I still have to decorate the cookies and I know I won’t have enough time (as usual!), I decided to use my First Impression silicon mold of Sleeping Baby. I was inspired by Anne Geddes’ amazingly beautiful baby pictures! I wanted to make a blooming flower but it didn’t turn out that way LOL The petals need more time to dry.

The christening favors were pink and white onesie cookies.

I decorated the cookies and the cake from Friday night to Saturday morning (only 2 hours of sleep). And we have to be at the reception at 8:30 AM to setup the dessert table before we can proceed to the 9:30 AM baptism in church. See, thats why I said ‘not enough time’ LOL *sighs* Anyways, I love the finished, clean and dainty looking cake! :)

I didn’t get a chance to photograph the cake in the usual setup, why? You guessed it right, ‘not enough time’ LOL Here are some of the photos of the decorated dessert table taken from the reception.

The decorations were made by my talented friend Marix (Naks!) She also made some cake pops! :) You can visit her blog to read more of the details about the decorations.

I super duper love the layouts made by Marix!

I’m lucky to be chosen as one of baby Lara’s godmothers :) To the proud mommy and daddy of baby Lara, congratulations Leslie and Dexter on your daughter’s christening day. May you be filled with more blessings!

All pink! Including me LOL

At the church: (L-R) Dexter the dad, Rosiel, Leslie the mom holding baby Lara, Belay, Me, Cecil with her pretty daughter Gracie :)

Here’s another take for the Kit Kat barrel cake :) It seems that this chocolate-overload cake is getting popular (third request this year) lol This was requested by Anna for her sweet daughter’s 10th birthday today. Initially, she requested for a Winx Club themed cake for Carla but there’s not enough time to make the cake and decorate it (only 3 days left!). I almost decline. Then she saw the Kit Kat cake I previously made and ordered it instead :)

This is an 8-inch chocolate cake filled and frosted with ganache and decorated with Kit Kats and M&M’s.

Happy Birthday Carla!

Thanks Anna for the order :)

M&Ms?… Check!

Kit Kat?… Check!

Tada! An 8-inch chocolate square cake with Kit Kat & M&Ms.

I made this cake for my Goddaughter baby Nickie’s 2nd year birthday last Friday (20-April).

I’ve done 2 KitKat barrell cakes before (with swiss meringue & with black & white maltesers) but they’re both round shaped. I tried to search for a square cake, but I didn’t find one. Now I know why *LOL* The Kit Kats are easier to assemble in a round cake and much better to tie the ribbon with it. Compared to the square cake, Kit Kats were a bit stubborn to stick with the cake hehehe

Still, the cake turned out okay :) Thanks Jo for this request.

Pink fondant teddy bear as cupcake topper.

Pink baby bibs.

Oh! And pink booties.

Two teddy bears? No, these cupcakes were not for twins :P Lani requested 24 cupcakes for her daughter’s, Sophia Isabelle, Christening day. Lovely name!

I love making these cute teddy bears :)

Thanks Lani for the order :)

Matet, a friend, requested 2 cakes for her 3-in-1 event: birthday, thanksgiving and housewarming :) She specifically requested that it shouldn’t be fondant and that she likes only a very simple cake. Oh, and not only a round cake but some other shaped cake that I know of. As what you have noticed from this site, I seldom do cakes which aren’t round LOL Maybe I just made twice or thrice butI’m more comfortable with round cakes. So after exchanging messages, she agreed that I’ll just do a 9-inch chocolate round cake and a 9×13 mocha cake.

For the 9-inc chocolate cake, Matet said she wants it to be the same as what I have prepared 2 years ago (I think). That cake was decorated with Kit Kat and white and chocolate maltesers. I told her that maltesers are quite costly and I’ll just replace it with something else. What I came up with was just topped the cake with piped plain Swiss Meringue buttercream and sprinkled with few chocolate chips. I think it turned out cute :) Oh! I had a problem handling the Kit Kat because it looked quite melted! It was too late to put the Kit Kat in the fridge. I have to stick it to the cake as the ganache will soon be setting. The overall cake still looks great, though :)

For the 9×13 mocha cake, I had a hard time thinking of how to decorate it LOL

I think it would be too plain if it’s just smooth top and sides. Well, the other reason is I’m not comfortable finishing this cake with just smoothing it! I mean, I’m a mess with that style especially when using buttercream :( I can’t seem to get it straight and smooth! And I know that it will take me lots of hours to do it. Then came the thought of the piped roses! Oh, I was really planning to do a rose cake decoration but I was imagining it for a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. But then again, I can also use that decoration for this 9×13 cake. The piping was a lot easier for me. I love it. My flatmates said it looks like a wedding cake LOL Anyways, the mocha cake turned out to be great, don’t you think? :)

Easter cookies like rabbit, carrot, egg and flower for spring (not in photo). I made these cookies for the kids in our church choir group. I brought them last Saturday night on the Easter Vigil mass because I may not see them today, Easter Sunday.

The cookies weren’t enough! I should have made more. I was only planning it to be given away for kids. I didn’t expect that even my friends (kids-at-heart) would be so interested with the cookies LOL. Noted for next year :P hehehe

Aside from the easter cookies, I also made onesie cookies for a friend’s son (TJ) as a small gift since I’ll be bringing her the 2 cakes she requested (will post that entry later).

Cookies can also be a great gift! :)

For Cassandra’s 7th birthday, her mom requested a Lalaloopsy cake. Caila, Cassandra’s nickname, loves collecting Lalaloopsy dolls!

I was sooo excited when Pam, her mom and also a friend, requested this cake because I know it will be something girly and cute. Until she suggested this cake idea, the one she found from the internet. It’s a beautiful cake but with detailed decoration. Honestly, I don’t know how to execute it LOL Initially, I thought of getting photos of Lalaloopsy then print it in edible paper. It will make my life a lot easier! But I wasn’t sure if they (the baking supplies store here) will allow it to be printed due to copyright issues. The 2nd option was to make the 3d fondant dolls. Not a good idea *lol* and not enough time. So, I had no choice but to do free-hand cut. I hope I did justice with the dolls *lol*

In case you’re not familiar with the lalaloopsy dolls, these dolls were once a ragdoll and then magically came into life. I have 4 mini Lalaloopsy dolls, which I bought because they were a lot cheaper than the actual doll (Pepper Cooks-up-fun, Bea Spells-a-Lot, Pillow featherbed and Crumbs sugar cookie). Too bad, they’re still homeless *lol* (I don’t know where to get or how to make the doll house hehehe).

Caila’s cake is a 2-tier chocolate fondant cake, diameters in 6″ and 9″ and in deep pink (top tier) and yellow (bottom tier, Caila’s favorite color). The lalaloopsy characters were (L-R) Bea, Pillow featherbed and Jewel. These 3 characters were included in the cake based on the invitation :)

For the souvenirs, I suggested to Pam the button cookies which I found while searching for cookies. The button cookies I made were fondant.

The cute gift tags were printed and provided by Pam :)

Oh look! My mini lalaloopsy, Bea, just quietly sneaked in so she can be included in the photo :P

Happy Birthday Caila! I hope you like the cake and the cookies :)
