Lalaloopsy Cake and Button Cookies

For Cassandra’s 7th birthday, her mom requested a Lalaloopsy cake. Caila, Cassandra’s nickname, loves collecting Lalaloopsy dolls!

I was sooo excited when Pam, her mom and also a friend, requested this cake because I know it will be something girly and cute. Until she suggested this cake idea, the one she found from the internet. It’s a beautiful cake but with detailed decoration. Honestly, I don’t know how to execute it LOL Initially, I thought of getting photos of Lalaloopsy then print it in edible paper. It will make my life a lot easier! But I wasn’t sure if they (the baking supplies store here) will allow it to be printed due to copyright issues. The 2nd option was to make the 3d fondant dolls. Not a good idea *lol* and not enough time. So, I had no choice but to do free-hand cut. I hope I did justice with the dolls *lol*

In case you’re not familiar with the lalaloopsy dolls, these dolls were once a ragdoll and then magically came into life. I have 4 mini Lalaloopsy dolls, which I bought because they were a lot cheaper than the actual doll (Pepper Cooks-up-fun, Bea Spells-a-Lot, Pillow featherbed and Crumbs sugar cookie). Too bad, they’re still homeless *lol* (I don’t know where to get or how to make the doll house hehehe).

Caila’s cake is a 2-tier chocolate fondant cake, diameters in 6″ and 9″ and in deep pink (top tier) and yellow (bottom tier, Caila’s favorite color). The lalaloopsy characters were (L-R) Bea, Pillow featherbed and Jewel. These 3 characters were included in the cake based on the invitation 🙂

For the souvenirs, I suggested to Pam the button cookies which I found while searching for cookies. The button cookies I made were fondant.

The cute gift tags were printed and provided by Pam 🙂

Oh look! My mini lalaloopsy, Bea, just quietly sneaked in so she can be included in the photo 😛

Happy Birthday Caila! I hope you like the cake and the cookies 🙂
